چکیده
Abstract The problem of the distribution extreme and very strong magnetic storms with intensities (G5, G4) in first cycles (12 24) epochs lowered solar activity was considered based on homogeneous series geomagnetic index Aa allowance for modern scale intensity disturbances near-Earth space scenario cyclicity. significant decrease number such events active phenomena last cycle may indicate that sunspot flare 12 significantly higher than 24, but it lower epoch increased activity.

Solar cycle changes in coronal holes and space weather cycles
[1] Potential field source surface models of the coronal magnetic field, based on Mt. Wilson Observatory synoptic magnetograms, are used to infer the coronal hole sources of low-heliolatitude solar wind over approximately the last three solar cycles. Related key parameters like interplanetary magnetic field and bulk velocity are also calculated. The results illustrate how the evolving contribut...
متن کاملCoastal evacuations by fish during extreme weather events
An increase in the intensity and frequency of extreme events is predicted to occur as a result of climate change. In coastal ecosystems, hurricanes and flooding can cause dramatic changes in water quality resulting in large mortality events in estuarine fauna. Facultative migration behaviors represent a key adaptation by which animals can evacuate ecological catastrophes, but remain poorly stud...
متن کاملAnalysis of Weather Generators: Extreme Events
Stochastic weather generators (WGs) are often used to simulate synthetic weather time series based on observed statistical properties in a particular location. Most studies evaluate WG skill based on average properties. Our objective is to assess how the WGs performs in simulating extremes, especially high precipitation amounts. We analyzed 13 different WGs using two parallel approaches: extrem...
متن کاملNorth Europe power transmission system vulnerability during extreme space weather
Space weather driven by solar activity can induce geomagnetic disturbances at the Earth's surface that can affect power transmission systems. Variations in the geomagnetic field result in geomagnetically induced currents that can enter the system through its grounding connections, saturate transformers and lead to system instability and possibly collapse. This study analyzes the impact of extre...
متن کاملExtreme Weather Events, Mortality and Migration
We estimate the effect of extreme weather on life expectancy in the US. Using high frequency mortality data, we find that both extreme heat and extreme cold result in immediate increases in mortality. However, the increase in mortality following extreme heat appears entirely driven by near-term displacement, while the increase in mortality following extreme cold is long lasting. The aggregate e...
